I am trying to find out about my friend who has just died - Charles (Charlie) Stewart Penrose. He was born in Cowdenbeath 3/01/1934 and was apparently a singer in music halls as was his mother Lily Ibelieve. I want to say some things at his funeral in Brighton on the 9/03/18 and would be grateful if anyone has any memoties of him please?
Many thanks.

I thought you might be interested in this book by Sir Harry Lauder that is for sale on eBay. It has a self-caricature and signature by Sir Harry, with a dedication ?To my friend John S. Clarke, 1938?, who it seems was a lion-tamer, MP for Maryhill Glasgow, notable socialist, and art-expert.

Can anyone give me info on my great grandfather, Jock Stewart, who was a singer in Glasgow music halls - possibly early 1900. Thanks..............

George Johnstone (d.2009) was my great uncle, married to the sister of my grandfather (Roma known as Dinks). Does anyone have any information on any of their performances please?
I see that George wrote a chapter for the book published in 1994. I don't suppose that is available anywhere that anyone knows please? Internet searches didn't bring up much.
Many Thanks

I was almost raised in the Tivoli in Aberdeen. My Father was a long time employee there and I think I worked about every job in the place. Lots of great memories and stories.

Hi Eileen, dont know if you will remember me but I was a school friend of your sister Maureen. My husband and I took your dog Lucky when you went to South Africa and brought her to Blackpool when you returned to UK. You then moved back to Glasgow and lived in 14 Hill Street opposite my mother. Your were bridesmaid at my wedding in 1967 ...hope you remember me it would be good to catch up...thave wondered where you all were over the years....Dianne x.

I used to work at the Gaiety Theatre Ayr ,Had my 21st and 40th birthday, I did limes, sound. And amateur shows lighting and sets. I am now 54 and our house had a water leak which entailed losing all theatre memorabilia, and photos stuff that can not be replaced, But I was hoping I could buy some memorabilia over years 1979 - 2001 if possible.
Can I join the society make new memorabilia for future passion and love of theatre. I am in the process of becoming a freelance photographer planning to specialize in all aspects of theatre i.e. shows, cast photos , start out portfolios etc.
Thank You

Hello, I am the daughter of Pete Martin, who was married to Edith. I don't have much information although I had the feeling that she died before 1953. My Mother married Pete in 1954 and I thought there may have been another wife in between! I know Edith died in a hospice in Glasgow and my Father had to go on stage that night, very upset. I would love to see a picture of Edith as I was told she was very glamorous. They had a house in Glasgow at St Georges Road (I was born there!) That is the only information I have I'm afraid. Good luck with your research. If you should come across any info on my Father I would interested to hear. Best wishes Eileen

Looking for any information on Mrs Alice Cardy (nee MacKenzie) or her son Tommy Cardy (also known as Tommy Gordon). Alice was a tapper in the 20s/30s and then active in concert parties in the 1950s and 60s. She wrote and appeared in short sketches and scenes. Alice passed away in 1974 in Glasgow. Tommy worked with his mother before emigrating to Australia in 1968. I am Tommy's daughter & Alice's grand daughter and I've recently uncovered a number of her original hand-written scripts. Would love to hear from anyone who knew her, or who had family who worked on stage with her. Many thanks Lynne
